A young Portuguese woman moves to a small and isolated island off the coast of Iceland in search of a better life for herself and her teenage daughter. When she is found murdered, the small community is shaken to the core, anxious to find the killer among them. An Icelandic detective, born and raised on the island, is sent to the island to solve the mystery. There, she has to face her own past and the most difficult choice of her life.
